Why Are Copic Markers So Expensive?
Copic markers are so expensive because they are considered by artists to be the most versatile, highest quality, and longest-lasting alcohol-based marker available. Copic markers are ideal for all kinds of art and design including fine art, graphic design, illustration, animation, manga, film, fashion design, product design, automotive design, architecture, landscape architecture, and more.
Available in four types, and over 350 colors, Copic markers are alcohol-based, non-toxic and acid-free. Their ink is a permanent dye that adheres to almost any surface.
Are Copic Markers Worth It?
When you are assessing the cost vs value of Copic markers, you have to look at how you are going to use them. If you are a casual colorer or beginner artist, I recommend going with cheaper brands. Copic Markers – Features and Benefits
Long-Lasting
Copic markers are of great value for money because they are designed for long-term use. The ink is refillable. And the ink is much cheaper than the pen.
The nibs are replaceable. In addition, the Copic pen design is air-tight, so that ink will not evaporate. These markers are not disposable pens. They offer long-term value to artists
Endless Color Possibilities
Copic offers a massive array of over 350 colors. These colors are organized in a user-friendly and intuitive “Copic Color System” so that you can select colors easily. And as mentioned above, Copic colors can be mixed. So that you can create your own custom colors. When it comes to color, Copic gives you endless possibilities to create on your terms.
02 Copic Sketch: (Most Popular)
Copic Sketch is the most popular type out of all their markers. This pen features an oval body. It can be refilled 12 times. This marker comes with a medium broad nib and super brush. I like the super brush as it gives you the ability to go thick or thin with a brush-like stroke.
03 Copic Ciao:
Similar to the Sketch, Copic Ciao has the smallest body. It comes standard with the medium broad and super brush. It can be refilled 12 times. The main difference I could find was that the body is a bit thinner than the Sketch. For this reason, I prefer the Sketch as it holds more ink. If you have smaller hands, Ciao could feel better, as it has a smaller body width.
Why Are Copic Markers So Special?
Simply put, Copic markers are not your ordinary markers. They are made for professional artists and designers who demand precision in color rendering. With a 30 year legacy of being the leader in professional artist markers, Copic offers so many benefits and features. Overall, if you are serious about your artwork, I recommend you give Copic markers a try.
Are Copic Markers Good For Beginners?
Copic Markers can be used by beginners and professionals. Beginners should use the best markers they can because better tools lead to artists enjoying the process. You could argue that with Copics, blending is difficult, and stroke quickness, direction, and type is also challenging for beginners. But overall, I believe there are more benefits for beginners to learn with quality markers, rather than cheap markers.
